Our story
Beechwood Farm Day Nursery may have opened in January 2007, but the story of the farm itself started many years ago. Richards farther firstly worked here as a young man. When the opportunity arose to buy the land he did just that - so Richard was in fact born right here in the farmhouse! Eventually Sarah and Richard purchased the farm from Richards parents and since then we have worked hard to build it up to what it is today. Sarah and Richard have raised their 3 daughters here on the farm and wanted to share the value of growing up on a farm with others. Two of the girls actually attended the nursery from the day the doors opened!
The choice to convert the piggery into what is now 'Beechwood Farm Day Nursery', came as part of a farming diversification project. After many years of hardship in the industry, it was a way to ensure they could keep on farming and doing what they love! Sarah and Richard wanted to build a space where they could offer the opportunity for children to see just how special the great outdoors is. They always knew they wanted to focus on the outdoor space and that is exactly what happened. Whether it be helping to feed the donkeys, splashing in big puddles or seeing the baby lambs being born in the spring, the children are always making exciting memories!
